DEFINITION

Tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 15 (251 aa, ~28 kDa) is encoded by the human TNFSF15 gene. This protein plays a role in both the inhibition of angiogenesis and the induction of apoptosis.

DesignNote

Tumor necrosis factor ligand superfamily member 15 is a TNF-related type II transmembrane protein, with an extracellular C-terminus, a single transmembrane domain, and a short cytoplasmic tail. Soluble forms of the protein markedly reduce vascularization and inhibits the growth of aortic endothelial cells and colon carcinomas.
